The Slight Edge came along for me at exactly the right time…
A time when I could really understand and grasp its message perfectly, because I had just seen the results play out in my own life before I even had the terminology to describe it.
Having gone through the process of shedding 40-50 pounds and getting into the best physical shape of my life over the course of a year, not only did the message make sense to me, but I started to think about where else it might be effective for me.
In Brief…
Rather than being caused by dramatic action, The Slight Edge tells us that success is usually the result of small choices made every day – things that are very easy to do, but also easy not to do. Failure is caused the same way.
Over the short term from day to day or week to week, the effects of these choices is hardly noticeable. But when compounded over the long term, their effects are dramatic and significant.
The choices you make each day can either work for you or against you in the long term, adding up to eventual success or failure, very predictably. This concept shows up in health, wealth, relationships, development, and any other area of life.
“Do the thing, and you shall have the power”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Deceptively simple, but yet extremely powerful. Ladies & gentlemen, that is the essence of it.
HOWEVER, if you want to go a little deeper…
- I’ve broken down the entire book chapter by chapter, including my favorite images, diagrams, and quotes (8 pages)
- I’ve created a printable matrix which I use to apply the lessons of the Slight Edge every day (it currently lives on my fridge where I can’t help but see it)
